What are you guys opinion in regards of a 2 month old baby with seborrhoeic dermatitis? She gets the flare up around her eyes, behind her ears and folds of her little arms. The pediatrician said that’s normal for her but the poor baby is so irritable !!! my daughter in law is using aveeno lotion and aveeno 1% hydrocortisone. Is there any other natural product she can use?
Wow 1% hydrocortisone seems high for a baby that age espically on the face, my daughter is 6 and docs will only prescribe 0.5 for the face. I would stay away from aveeno there’s soooo many harsh chemicals in it.
One other item I’ve used is the Spectro gel line. I use it as a cleanser for my face and it is gentle. My dermatologist recommended it. Also ask your dr for a script for glycerine in galaxal base. It is scent free and a great moisturizer. It’s not a medicated cream but because the pharmacy needs to mix it, it needs a prescription
I can’t use Aveeno on flare ups. Only clear skin. What soap is she using for washing skin and clothes. My family has extremely sensitive skin (babies and adults) and the only soap we can use is dove for babies. (I use the sensitive skin body wash) we use a lotion on Clayton that is a gallaxal base cream. Super thick and great for sensitive skin. As far as hydrocortisone, it can thin the skin as it is a steroid. Just be careful with it.
I was told to give my son 1tsp of hemp oil daily to help increase his omega 3 and fatty acids. I don’t know if that’s safe for a baby, but maybe ask the pediatrician for something to help with the omega 3 intake? I know people have been advised to puncture a capsule and put the liquid into bottles since kids can’t swallow pills
