Have any body heard of subacute spongiotic dermatitis? I was diagnosed in the early 1990's and was told this will never go away. And it's true. But I found a temporary cure. If you live close to the beach, wade in the water. I don't know if its the salt water or micro organism in the water eatting on the area. Believe me it clear up for about 3 to 4 days.
Celeste yes Apple Cider vinegar helps to relieve some itch but not much it just comes back more powerful lol But dilute it with a little water also.
Yes..... If you're not near a beach, try to bathe in pickle juice or AC vinegar.
Yes, I was diagnosed with exactly the same thing (subacute spongiotic dermatitis) earlier this year at age 75...never had a problem with my skin before. My lower legs are the worst...so itchy. I scratch them viciously, and then feel like a failure. This has been so depressng. It has sapped my energy. I've tried creams galore...and here I still am. I could cry...I do cry.
I'm in my 50s and will go to the beach until I'm dead! There is NO AGE LIMIT! If not want to wear a suit, try swim shorts and swim shirt. ❤️❤️❤️
Catherine56 try this at home. in your tub pour about a cup and half of vinegar, one third box of baking soda and any liquid bubble bath. Sit in the tub for about 15-20 minutes. The water should be getting cool, add some more warm to hot water and sit for another 5min. Scrub the areas of the eczema, then rinse and get out. The skin should be smooth.
