Hey Everyone! My Daughter Has Eczema On Her Lips I Find Toothpaste Makes It Worse. What Toothpaste Brand Should I Use? What Do I Avoid?
Toothpaste can indeed irritate eczema on the lips. Look for toothpaste that is free of harsh ingredients like sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), artificial flavors, and fragrances. Opt for gentle, hypoallergenic, or natural toothpaste brands. Avoid whitening agents and strong mint flavors, as they can also trigger irritation Show Full Answer
Closys sensitive toothpaste is also another option for an SLS fee toothpaste....
I prefer Tom's of Maine Botanically Bright toothpaste, as it has no SLS in
it and the ingredients are pretty "clean" except for carrageenan. Since
I'm elderly, I do not use toothpastes with fluoride; I don't need more
fluoride. Botanically Bright has no fluoride. The flavor is peppermint.
Not all Tom's of Maine toothpastes are SLS free. Some of their toothpastes
have SLS and that ingredient can cause a rash around the mouth and lead to
canker sores.
