Hello,
I am trying to help my thirteen year old get her eczema under control. Her arms are red and where not red, mostly white patches. We have tried every lotion. This year it spread to her knees. Specialist at Children's laughed at me when I suggested food allergy. Steroids only make the white patches worse. I have tried every natural lotion imaginable and nothing works. White patches are actually more concerning than the red.
Willing to start over again but losing hope.

Members rallied around a parent seeking help for their thirteen-year-old daughter's persistent eczema, with many urging them to trust their instincts about food allergies and request blood testing from an allergist rather than relying solely on skin prick tests, which several noted can be inaccurate. Several members shared practical strategies that have helped them or their children, including bathing in baking soda, using specialized soaps like Shea Moisture Indian Hemp bar soap, applying moisturizer while skin is still damp, trying Eucerin creams, and in more severe cases, exploring biologic treatments like Dupixent. A recurring theme was the frustration of being dismissed by doctors, the importance of advocating fiercely for your child, and the encouragement to keep trying different specialists until someone truly listens and helps.

My son is 16 and we had a similar experience. It was a dermatologist who had the nerve to say we just needed to put more lotion on him. He is red and itchy everywhere on his body except the bottoms of his feet and palms of this hands. He is covered in lotion most of the time, but nothing stops the itching. We went to an allergist and she tested him for food and environmental allergies. He had none. But she is helping him anyway and he started Dupixent last week. We are praying from some relief to occur in the next couple of months. I have felt defeated too, but don't give up. Try different doctors until someone helps you.
