My son is 11-months-old and we have tried quite a few things to relieve is scratching & discomfort. Aveeno, aquaphor wash & dove made him brake out. Eucerin wash has been ok. Shea butter, Vaseline, and Eucerin eczema relief lotions are the only ones that don’t make his skin break out, but he’s still super itchy. Especially behind the ears, neck & in the diaper area. Scratching until he makes himself bleed :( we even tried hydrocortisone, but that didn’t help either. His pediatrician doesn’t make… read more

Members rallied around a parent seeking relief for their 11-month-old son's severe eczema, which had been dismissed by doctors as just dry skin despite scratching to the point of bleeding. Several members recommended practical remedies including Hydrolatum (available over the counter at pharmacies), bleach baths, goat milk soap, QV bath oil, fragrance-free shampoos, and plant-based products like Calendula cream, with many emphasizing the importance of moisturizing multiple times daily. A recurring theme was the powerful role of food allergies, with multiple members sharing how eliminating dairy, eggs, wheat, and processed sugar or pursuing comprehensive allergy testing completely resolved their children's eczema when topical treatments had failed.

I remember how mad it made me when the dermatologist I saw told me eczema is just extreme dry skin! Dairy was the problem for me. I no longer get bad eczema on my hands since giving it up. I gave up all dairy for a while, and now I can tolerate yogurt and cheese, but milk or cream give me an instant flare-up. Try giving up the most allergenic foods (dairy, eggs, wheat) one by one, and see if that helps.

Goat milk soap helps. And give him some to drink too.

I found QV bath oil to help relieve my dry and sensitive skin. I'd recommend giving it a go https://www.qvskincare.com.au/products/body/bat....

Also be careful of what shampoo you use. I found out that I am highly allergic to Johnson and Johnson No More Tears Baby Shampoo. Look for products with no fragrances or dyes.
