It's like a catch-22...moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. Then the itchy bubbles appear. Use medication, dry, scaly skin that cracks. So, back to moisturizing, and the cycle starts again. Anyone having better luck? If you are, how?

Members deeply understood the frustrating cycle of moisturizing to relieve dry skin, only to trigger itchy blisters that then require medication, leading back to dryness and cracking. Several members shared helpful alternatives to traditional creams, including switching to natural oils like olive, jojoba, or CBD oil, making a cooling colloidal oatmeal mixture stored in the fridge for immediate itch relief, and using only prescription creams with cotton gloves to lock in moisture while avoiding allergic reactions to over-the-counter products. A recurring theme was the importance of experimenting with different products to identify personal triggers, applying moisturizer gently and slowly, and recognizing that what works for one person's skin may not work for another.

I have the same problem with all moisturizing creams. What helps for me is to use oils instead like olive oil, jojaba oil, and/or CBD oil. Lately, I have been mixing jojaba oil with about an equal amount of colloidal oatmeal and putting it in a small container in the refrigerator. It hardens in the refrigerator. I break off a piece when my skin is itchy and rub it on my skin which relieves the itching because it is grainy and cool on my skin. Afterwards my skin feels softer and not as scaly. I alternate that with adding CBD oil to help with the dryness. When I cook with olive oil, I rub a little on my skin while I have it out. I rarely get the itchy bubbles anymore which I used to pop with a straight pin to keep from scratching all my skin off.
