When choosing cleansers for eczema-prone skin, it's better to use gentle, synthetic cleansers (called syndets) rather than traditional soaps. Regular soaps can be too alkaline and disrupt your skin's natural pH balance, leading to dryness and irritation.
Look for products that:
• Are fragrance-free
• Contain emollients (moisturizing ingredients)
• Include ingredients like glycerin, shea butter, or colloidal oatmeal
• Have the National Eczema Association Seal of Acceptance Before using any new cleanser, it's recommended to test it on a small patch of skin first. Some gentle, hydrating options include:
• SheaMoisture Fragrance-Free Baby Soap
• Cetaphil Baby Soothing Wash
• Puracy Natural Body Wash
• TruKid Soothing Skin Wash
Remember that "natural" doesn't always mean safe for eczema - focus on finding products that are free of irritants and provide proper moisture for your skin.
