I don't use foundation a lot but when I do use it, I only use the powder foundation as I can use a makeup brush to apply the small amount onto my face with a makeup brush that I have found works with sensitive skin. I keep the makeup brushes clean always so my skin never has any trouble.

I personally like NARS Light-Reflecting Advanced Skincare. It doesn't seem to break me out or have too much fragrance. I also know Tower28 is an eczema-friendly brand that makes tinted SPF. Let us know if you find something that works for you! 🤗

What foundation works best for eczema-prone skin?

Finding the right foundation when you have eczema can feel overwhelming, but focusing on gentle, skin-friendly ingredients makes a big difference.

Key ingredients to look for:
- Hyaluronic acid (helps hydrate and improve skin barrier)
- Ubiquinone/Coenzyme Q10 (reduces inflammation)
- Glycerin and other moisturizing ingredients

What to avoid:
- Fragrances and essential oils
- Preservatives that can trigger reactions
- Retinoids (unless used carefully with moisturizer)
- Urea (can damage eczema-affected skin layers)
- Dyes, perfumes, and menthol

Choose foundations labeled as fragrance-free, hypoallergenic, or formulated for sensitive skin. Products with the National Eczema Association Seal of Acceptance are a good starting point, though they're not guaranteed to work for everyone.

Application tips:
Apply any prescription ointments or creams first, then foundation on top. Using a facial sponge or brush can help the product go further and apply more evenly. Remember to clean your applicators regularly.

Always patch test new products on a small area and wait 24-48 hours before using on your whole face. What works varies person to person, so don't be discouraged if you need to try a few options.

Some MyEczemaTeam members have found success with higher-end brands like MAC, Yves Saint Laurent, and Dior Star, though price doesn't guarantee it'll work for your skin.
