Only Prednisone works, my skin is dead. I can't function for weeks. No my hands die, they smell like death. I've been a recluse before the pandemic.

I truly hate that you are experiencing this, @A MyEczemaTeam Member! This looks so painful. And I can only imagine how painful the splitting must be! Have you considered biologics or any of the new oral treatments coming out lately? I'm trusting and believing there is healing on the other side of this for you!

It sounds like you're dealing with dyshidrotic eczema (also called pompholyx), and what you're describing — the blisters, the peeling, the smell, the isolation — is something others in this community truly understand. You are absolutely not alone in this.

Dyshidrotic eczema causes intense, sudden itching followed by deep fluid-filled blisters, mostly on the palms and fingers. When they heal, the skin peels and cracks, which can become painful and vulnerable to infection — which may explain that smell you're noticing. As one MyEczemaTeam member put it, "I'm so emotional. A grown man crying, hiding. I don't want anybody to see the blisters all over my hands." That kind of withdrawal is real and valid.

While Prednisone can help during severe flares, it's worth talking to a dermatologist about longer-term options, since steroids aren't ideal for ongoing use. Some things that may help between flares include:

- Identifying and avoiding personal triggers (stress, metals, soaps, moisture)
- Using fragrance-free, gentle soaps and emollient barrier creams
- Cool water soaks or compresses to ease itching
- Cotton gloves under waterproof ones if hands get wet
