Yes, I have had this problem for years. It's very difficult for me to Wear socks, my legs burn and itch something horrible. As far as my clothing, I try to stay away from elastic as much as possible. If I have to wear something elasticity, I will put on cami or something underneath the shirt for instance so it's not touching my skin. Jeans same thing cami tucked in my jeans. I am allergic to nickle so I definitely do not have the back of the buttons, touching my skin at all.

Could elastic waistbands or clothing be triggering a rash? This is actually a really common issue for people with eczema, and it often comes down to two things: the material itself or the metal components (like nickel) used in elastic.

Here are some possible culprits:

- Nickel — often found in metal clasps or woven into elastic, nickel is a well-known eczema trigger
- Synthetic fabrics like polyester, which is commonly used in elastic, can irritate sensitive skin
- Friction — elastic pressing against skin repeatedly can aggravate eczema

Some things that may help:

- Choose clothing with soft, cotton-covered elastic waistbands
- Opt for breathable fabrics like cotton, bamboo, or silk
- Avoid tight-fitting clothing that keeps elastic in constant contact with skin
- Try a DIY nickel allergy test if you suspect that's the trigger

If the rash is spreading, not improving, or affecting sensitive areas like the face or genitals, it's worth checking in with a dermatologist to get a clearer picture of what's going on.
