What can be done about the itching. I'm on the highest topical ointment that seems to do very little. I can't control the urge to scratch, which causes skin to die, peel and crack. While in the healing stage, my feet are very sore, making it hard to walk. At times I walk on the sides of my feet, which is causing problems with my knees. This neverending cycle is interfering with my life as I am unable to enjoy anything that involves walking, or being on my feet, which is almost everything

Members rallied around someone struggling with severe foot eczema, sharing treatments that have brought them relief, including Dupixent injections, Rinvoq, hydroxyzine for itching, clobetasol ointment, and SmartLotion available online. Several members described practical at-home strategies such as soaking feet in warm salt water or colloidal oatmeal baths, applying thick layers of Vaseline wrapped in plastic overnight, using ice packs to calm intense itching, and wearing cotton socks with ointment to bed. A recurring theme was frustration with high-dose topical steroids losing effectiveness over time, the importance of exploring dietary triggers and food intolerances, and the encouragement to seek second opinions or consider systemic treatments when topicals fail.

I have hand and foot eczema. I use vasoline and oatmeal lotion on my feet. So far so good. I also take Hydroxyzine for anxiety and itching.

I have discovered Smart Lotion. It is only available online and it comes in 2 ounce bottles. It has resolved my eczema symptoms by 90% and it has completely disappeared on my face, around my eyes , my neck and chest. I only apply it once a day -after my morning shower. I moisturize with CeraVe moisturizing cream. I cannot say enough good things about this product. It has completely changed my life for the better. It has a 60 day money back guarantee if for some reason it does not work for you. I hope you try it and it works as well for you!

I only had eczema on my hands tho' it was extreme I have to tell you. Finally went on Dupixent in May/June of 2022. Then the eczema went to my heels as Dmassi describes & worse. My feet were red all the time/twice the size/bleeding/blisters etc. This started 3 months AFTER I had started Dupixent. I went off Dupixent in Nov. since it wasn't helping at all & if anything it was making it worse. Note: I know that it works well for the majority of people, like 90%, I was in the 10 % 🙄. Went on Rinvoq in Feb after much reluntance due to more side affects then Dupixent. My heel flareup was 6 continuous months; had to buy new shoes/boots as I couldn't fit into anything.
BTW, I used both prescription & non-prescription topicals; the only one that worked but is high steroids so could only use for a wk.+. No quality of life with continuous flareups on hands & heels - both with continous open wounds & bleeding. Did as many alternatives like bleach soaks, warm soaks, vasoline w/saran wrap. Always went to bed with ointment/socks on & work white cotten gloves w/mega bandaids 24/7 with topicals.
And Rinvoq has been a miracle for me 🤩

@A MyEczemaTeam Member,
Thank you Reba. I hope we can all help you along with everyone else. I am new to this hand and foot eczema.
I live in a really cold dry atmosphere and to be honest I'm not looking forward to this winter. I soak in plain water, sometimes I put a little bit of clorox. It helps me alot.
Hydroxyzine is prescribed from my Dr's. They say it helps with the itching. Plus anxiety. So far so good..
I hope you/ we can all figure out this puzzle. Take care.

Good to hear you're doing well with your current regiment Jennifer. I've tried Vaseline and it didn't seem to help. Going to look up the hydroxyzine as I've never heard of it. Thanks for your reply. Hope you continue to do well. 😌
