I have had itchiness and redness in groin for over a year. It is not jock itch and I have tried steroid creams, tacrolimus, steroid shots, epiceram, and all kinds of other creams as well as Gabapentin and antihistamines. The only thing that helped for a few months was Opzelura but it hasn’t been working for me anymore. Any suggestions or has anyone else experienced something like this. I don’t know what else I should do or try.
my groin thing has been dormant lately but it occurs typically in the late evening when i am attempting to go to sleep. Tried Sarna early on to little or no avail. Lately, at advice of my dermo i have been taking generic Zyrtec daily and i think is helping. PS I finally got a 5 day blast of prednisone 200mg 3 for 2days 2 for 2days 1 for 2days. and THAT finally cleared up the body eczema. Dyshidrotic on palms and fingers starting to show again. Trying to head it off with some aveeno eczema daily cream- non cortisoid. Also have found that exposure to very hot and soapy liquids is a trigger for me. They aren't kidding when they say avoid most hand cleaners and soaps. Anti bacterial liquids we used during Covid really dry you out.
I thought no one else ever had this. Insane that no doc can figure out what causes and how to treat. I have same thing. My doc said not to use steroids in that area. I've had this for a long time. It can be dormant and then out of the blue the itching starts and is extremely bothersome. Only over the past couple of months did I start to suffer from other types of eczema. Have the dyshidrotic on hands that has come and gone and then come back (talk about a nightmare) and random other rashes that have shown up on arms, legs, and outer part of thigh. Seeing doc today. Unspecified chronic dermatitis-- in other words no clue as to what causes it. I'm in same boat.
My dermatologist told me he didn't know what it was..it was even on my tongue and he actually gave me cream for my feet and told me to put that cream in my tongue! Worthless! Like why even go!! They don't have a clue he said it's ur immune system! That was it out the door he went so I never went back!😡
I also have tried opzelura for this area and it worked for about a year, my itch completely stopped and recently has been flaring up again. Opzelura is no longer effective . Been suffering with this for 5 years and seen several different types of doctors who all had no answers. They just prescribe different creams and antibiotic ointments. Glad to know I’m not the only one with no answers
I have also had a biopsy that just stated I had unspecified chronic dermatitis.
