It works for me! I also usually apply a moisturizer on top but might not need to--just need to experiment.

Castor oil shows promise as a complementary treatment for eczema, though research is limited. Its active ingredient, ricinoleic acid, has anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties when applied topically. The oil may also have antimicrobial properties that could help prevent infections in open wounds caused by scratching.

While castor oil is generally safe for topical use, it's important to note that it may not absorb deeply into the skin, potentially limiting its effectiveness for underlying inflammation. Some people find success using castor oil to manage their eczema symptoms. To use it effectively, apply a thick layer to affected areas and consider wearing cotton gloves or socks over the application to help it stay in contact with the skin longer. You can also mix it with other oils for potentially better results.

Before starting any new treatment, including natural remedies like castor oil, consult with your healthcare provider, especially if you have sensitive skin or severe eczema, as allergic reactions are possible.

In rereading this article on castor oil it mentions that another moisturizer might be needed as this does not go deep so when I say I apply moisturizer on top I guess that is the right thing to do.This is the article that got me started on it.
