Unrelated in my opinion. I have had eczema 73 years.
Hair loss only for a couple of years, so I don't see how there could be a relation.

And hair loss...is it associated with eczema or is that likely from an unrelated cause?

Yes, itchy scalp is a very common symptom of scalp eczema, affecting up to 5% of the general population. The most common symptoms include intense itching, dry skin, flaking (similar to dandruff), and scaly patches that may appear greasy. These symptoms can be uncomfortable, irritating, and sometimes painful. Several factors can trigger or worsen scalp eczema, including stress, hormone changes, weather conditions, hair products, and certain medications. The condition may also be affected by environmental factors that decrease the skin's protective barrier and cause inflammatory reactions.

To manage symptoms, it's important to see a doctor or dermatologist for proper diagnosis and treatment. While there isn't a permanent cure, various treatments can help control symptoms and prevent flare-ups. Many people find relief by identifying and avoiding their specific triggers, particularly when it comes to hair care products.
